BOLD Educational Software Using colons/semicolons with APA Style

Use a semicolon

• to separate two independent clauses that are not joined by a conjunction
• to separate elements in a series that already contain commas (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 2010, pp. 89-90)

Directions: Click on "Example" and a paragraph will appear in the top text-area. Insert (or remove) colons, semicolons, or commas as necessary. When you are finished, click on "Correct APA Style" to see the correct punctuation according to the APA Publication Manual.
